Saul’s Rock… 1

This year seems to be running on a different time scale, I blinked and seven days have already sped by. How has your year been shaping up? Great, I hope.

I’ve decided to be more serious with this space in 2020 and one of the ways I’m going to do that is committing to a posting schedule that ensures that I create content for the blog on set days whether I like it or not. I have to admit that I giggled a little when I wrote ‘create content’, I will write a whole blog post on what I feel about terms like that, maybe it would be the next post. Continue reading →

Be Prepared…

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear” is a popular Chinese saying and its enduring popularity is hinged on the truth of it. If you are not ready for a lesson, a phase in life, anything really – you wouldn’t get it. Continue reading →

Microphone Miracle

July’s slowly rolling over and August is nearly here. I’m excited about August, there isn’t any particular reason why though. Maybe it’s a product of my childhood days when August meant I could wake up a little later than usual because of the long holiday. I wasn’t a morning person back then, I’m still definitely not a morning person.

Trust the Process.

Two days ago while I worked on a photo from a writing workshop organized by my friend, I had a conversation with my brother on the process of getting the image I wanted from the raw photo which was dark and nearly useless. The picture went from drab to fab in a few minutes. Yesterday morning, I woke up with the thought that the process of getting that picture ready was a lot like life and how God arranges our lives. Four years…

Writing is a jealous lover.
During my time in university, I didn’t write much. Studying pharmacy was more exacting than writing and it was very quick with punishments, patience wasn’t part of its arsenal.
After leaving school and beginning my internship, the stirring for writing intensified in my heart. I began to feel as if I’d go crazy without it.
So I got a tab in August 2013 and on the 5th of September, I started this blog.  In those four years, I have grown immensely as a writer, a woman and as a productive member of society. I’ve met so many amazing individuals via this blog, I’m beyond blessed to have met them and have them my life.
Today’s been pretty terrible, with what has to be the worst bout of PCOS induced wahala and a hectic day at work. All I wanted to do was sleep. Somehow I found myself on word press and saw the notification of my anniversary  here.

Get Lucky

Get lucky by Daft Punk ft Pharell is my new favourite song, I love the disco-funk fusion and the way it makes you think dancing is easy. If I didn’t know better, I’d have sworn it was by ‘Earth Wind and Fire’ or ‘The Whispers’- the smoothness of it calls them to mind. And the video! It’s so 80’s and that for me was when good music peaked and rolled over and died. I love the chorus most of all, especially the refrain ‘we’re up all night to get lucky’ that is repeated several times across the song. Continue reading →
