Take Five

I’m listening to Grover Washington’s version of Take Five as I type. I’d been listening to it as I made a post on my book review blog. The song is so joyful that I decided to make a short post here to remember how I feel this early hours of the third day of June.

I feel as if I could find wings, mount them and lift off. It is what jazz does to me most times, makes me float, takes me somewhere that smells of lemons – sweet sticky lemons.

There are various versions of this song and I will hunt them all down and find my favourite, although I think I’ll always have a soft spot for Grover’s version. I love Grover’s version of several songs already, from Soulful Strut to Just the Two of Us (Bill Withers) to this one.

Let me head to bed before I spill all my secrets here. If you want to read the review of Girls at War by Chinua Achebe, you can find it https://ezeadareads.wordpress.com/2021/06/03/girls-at-war/
