Christmas Carols – O Come All Ye Faithful

The second carol we’ll be looking at is one of the most beautiful and popular carols, O Come All Ye Faithful. It is also referred to as Adeste Fedelis which is derived from its Latin translation. No one knows for sure who wrote the carol or composed the melody.

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the King of Angels:
O come, let us adore Him, (3x)
Christ the Lord.

God of God, light of light,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God, begotten, not created:
O come, let us adore Him, (3x)
Christ the Lord.

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above!
Glory to God, glory in the highest:
O come, let us adore Him, (3x)
Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing!
O come, let us adore Him, (3x)
Christ the Lord.

Ancient and Modern hymnal has two versions of the song, this one and another with three extra verses. One year indomie noodles used used the song for their Christmas advert, where platters of noodles and fried chicken were being loaded to the dining table. And it all looked so yummy and fresh .
